I was able to program them until they suddenly show up in device manager as "unknown device status request- failed.". I bought 125 Nanos with the CH340g chips as I was assured that their driver issues were resolved. A few months ago I landed a similar project designing a retrofit/daughter board solution for hospital room vitals monitors. I had some problems when the low cost Mega2560 boards moved to the CH chips but I managed to get the project done. Probably this help others, get some additional cables to try before going crazy as me. Used a simple program and made the compile / uploadĪnd finally it worked.confirmed the port COM4 for me same as the device manager.used the ATMEGA328P (Old Bootloader) as it was suggested in some earlier posts.Reinstall the Chinese drivers (not sure if this helped at the end).
Even that the cable worked with Arduino UNO I was about to give up forever, but decided to do a new try
Uninstalled and reinstalled several times. removing everything from device drivers several times. 
Reinstall the drivers from Chinese source and the second source. copy all to local folders avoid using one drive. Main problem for me was not been able to see the COM Port in the device manager After reading several time this blog and tried all this things Hello, I was also struggling with CH340 Nano board with a Laptop that uses USB3.0 port. Note: I use CH340 drivers from the manufacturer web site at Tried more than 1 Nano, tried more than 1 cable as well as USB port on the laptops and with consistent results. Again, these Nano's can be programmed on my desktop, so I know the bootloader is fine. I can program the Nano on my desktop, but NOT on either laptop, I get stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding. In the IDE, I selected the correct com port, as well as the Nano board (have been doing this for years on my desktop). Plugged in a Nano on all 3 machines and device manager reports the CH340 as showing up under the Com ports every time. Laptop2: A previous install of Windows 10 1809. Laptop1: Grabbed a blank hard drive and installed a fresh copy of Windon the new drive. Laptop1: Previous install of Windows 10 1809, downloaded/installed CH340 drivers from the Chinese manufacturer, downloaded and installed Arduino IDE 1.8.8 and then rebooted and ran the IDE. Then there's my laptops (ASUS M50VM-A1 and MSI GX640), where I get get "stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding" when trying to upload the sketch to the Nano. Have got the Arduino IDE 1.6.12 with the CH340 drivers installed and working on my Windowss 10 desktop with my clone Nano's.
